NATICK, Mass. July 28, 2008--Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) announced today that China Steel Corporation, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of integrated steel products, has placed an order for seven Cognex SmartView® surface inspection systems. This multi-million dollar sale represents the largest single order that Cognex's Surface Inspection Systems Division (SISD) has ever received. The SmartView systems will be used to perform automated quality inspection at China Steel's manufacturing plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Cognex Receives Over $300,000 from Leading Auto Maker for Part Traceability Initiative 2008-8-14
NATICK, MA, August 11, 2008--Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) announced today that a leading Japanese auto manufacturer will use Cognex In-Sight® ID readers for part tracking at its engine assembly plant in the United States. Cognex has already received orders totaling more than $300,000 from this customer, with additional orders expected in the near future.
iGPS Launches "iDepots," Bringing New Efficiency To Pallet Rental And The Nation's Supply Chain 2008-7-15
ORLANDO, Fla. - July 8, 2008 - Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS Company LLC), operator of the world's first all-plastic pool with embedded RFID tags, has added yet another innovation to the pallet rental industry¡ª''iDepots,'' a new concept that results in lower cost and increased revenue for participating retailers and distributors.
Cavity Pressure Sensors Measure Every Shot for Quality Control 2008-4-5
A supplier of mould cavity pressure sensors for nearly 30 years, D-M-E has introduced new strain gauge-based sensors and added a 125-lb cavity pressure sensor to its line of 500- and 2,000-lb products. The sensors are used in conjunction with auxiliary recording and control equipment for measuring pressures in injection, die-cast, and transfer moulds. The new 125-lb model is perfect for smaller ejector pins and suitable for small moulds or applications where water lines, support pillars, or other mould features inhibit the use of slide sensors.

Inductive Rotary Encoders for Resolver Systems and with a Higher Resolution 2008-1-21
The inductive rotary encoders of the ExI 1100 series are now available in versions whose mating dimensions are the same as those of common types of resolvers. Depending on the respective applications and accuracy requirements, inductive or optical absolute encoders are now possible as alternatives to resolvers. Furthermore, the ExI 1100 rotary encoders with EnDat 2.1 interface feature an improved inductive scanning method, with which the singleturn resolution was increased to 18 bits (262 144 position values per revolution). This results in a higher control quality of the drive.

Cooking up new MEMS 2007-12-4
Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) are tiny components etched from silicon. Production is extremely complex, sometimes with hundreds of steps, each with dozens of parameters. One European project has developed software that can test, simulate, track and share new manufacturing processes. It could slash development times and pave the way for innovative MEMS designs.

Wireless Sensors To Monitor Bearings In Jet Engines Developed 2007-11-7
Dimitrios Peroulis, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Purdue, holds a new MEMS sensor at an "environmentally controlled probe station." The wireless sensors are being developed to detect impending bearing failure in jet engines. The probe station recreates extreme conditions inside engines, enabling researchers to test the sensors. Integrated automation platform for CNC, robotics and axis linking in one homogeneous system 2007-9-24
Anthropomorphic robots, complex CNC 3D processing, multiply linked axis movements, single-axis positioning that can be modified in real-time ¨C each of these now represent a separate area of technology. B&R has introduced a complete platform that combines all components in one system. B&R¡®s "Generic Motion Control" includes drives, movement and path control, visualization and I/O handling. In particular, path control with CNC functionality works as an integral part of the complete automation system, which can be configured with a single software tool.
