The MTECH Systems cloud ceilometer 8000- CHS is a stand-alone instrument designed for fixed and mobile installations where accurate and reliable cloud height information is required. The design is based on the LIDAR principle. The light emitting component is a low power diode laser with the output power limited to an eyesafe level. Real time digitizing techniques are employed for signal detection on the powerful 80C186 microprocessor.
8000-CHS has outputs for different types of display and recording units. All data output is in WMO and ICAO compatible formats.Backscatter data can be transmitted to enable graphical display to the end user. RS-232C interfaces support local control, test and data acquisition. Wireless radio, microwave, conventional or DSL modem can be used for remote data acquisition and control.

The electronics are located in two easily replaceable subunits, i.e. a power supply module and printer circuit board.
